This policy describes the iOS and macOS apps. This support website has no custom analytics, ads or submission forms. Its hosting provider may process connection information to serve the pages.
Your photo library
Find My Photo accesses photos that you allow through the system Photos permission. It analyzes those photos on your device to make them searchable by a text description. The app does not upload your photos to a developer-operated server or third-party AI service.
If you enable iCloud downloads, Apple's Photos framework may retrieve images from your own iCloud Photo Library. Apple's services and policies apply to that retrieval. The app's search processing remains on your device.
Information stored on your device
The app stores a local search index containing photo identifiers, revision information, and numeric image embeddings. It stores an optional birth date if you enter one for age-based date filtering. The index is excluded from device backups. Recent translations and text embeddings are temporarily reused in memory for faster repeat searches; they are not saved as search history on disk.
The app uses no advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. It does not require an app account and does not operate an account database.
Korean search
On iOS 18 and later or macOS 15 and later, Apple’s Translation framework translates Korean descriptions into English on the device before matching photos. Apple may ask to download language assets. Apple’s service policies apply to language downloads. Translation does not require a developer-operated AI service.
Your choices
You may restrict or revoke Photos access in iOS Settings or Mac System Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos. Each new search checks the currently permitted library and removes inaccessible items from its saved index. You can remove the birth date using Search Options. On iOS, deleting the app removes its local app data; offloading may retain it. On Mac, local data is stored in the app’s sandbox container and may remain after moving the app to Trash. Contact support for removal instructions.
